It was a first for Maxime Forcin and a seventh victory for Benjamin Tison on the FFT Padel Tour. Both players won this weekend the P2000 of Spirit Padel, confirming their great momentum. Mario Cordero collected their impressions.

Feelings that improved throughout the tournament

Maxime Forcin : “For my part, better and better. As the tournament went on, I had better sensations. I hit well, so of course, that helps. Since we can't go out, it's formidable. After that, we were good in the important moments. When you take break points, it's easier to win the match.”

Benjamin Tison : “He smashed very well, and that changes a lot because there are players who can no longer lob him. Concerning the sets, we were tied until 4-3 where we played a great game. We broke and followed up with a big game. Behind, 6-3. Start of the second, we really took the upper hand. Then, they were a little stronger than us on their service games, while we struggled a little. But we had this break in advance. I tried to manage myself physically too, because four matches in two days after a long period without playing is not yet optimal for me. But I am happy with my level.”

Promising young opponents

Today's finalists, Timéo Fonteny and Yoan Boronad, put up a good fight against the two experienced players.

Benjamin Tison : “Playing against youngsters who are between 10 and 18 years younger than us is great. They have their whole future ahead of them, and we are happy to be able to beat them a little bit more… but it won’t last forever!”

A paying tactic

Benjamin Tison : “Our goal was to Volley the first ball in the center so that they couldn’t find our backhand volley behind. In defense, we wanted to play hard on Timéo to make him block a little and lob Yoan. But Yoan hit it very well. With conditions like these, we had to seize every opportunity.”

In the first set, only one break point was converted on their side. In the second, they managed to take the lead with an additional break.

Forcin / Tison on P1500 and FIP tournaments in France…

Maxime Forcin : “We’re going to take three days off. Then we might consider playing a P1500 in Biarritz or a FIP. We haven't looked at the calendar yet."

Towards a rise in power?

Max Forcin : “We are undefeated in tournaments this season, with a victory in P1500 and now in P2000. We can’t do better at the moment. All that remains is the French Championships to go and get. Everything in its own time, but I have the impression that we are gaining momentum.”
