On his social networks, Pablo Lijó expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation of the professional padel circuit. According to him, Players, fans and promoters suffer the consequences, while those who should take responsibility do not.
The Spanish player claims that all players want to play, but demand decent working conditions, in accordance with the commitments made three years ago.
In front of this situation, Pablo Lijó has decided to give up several tournaments, among which the FIP Gold of Paredes, the Silver of Valencia, the Silver of Egypt, the P2 of Gijón and the FIP Gold of Dubai. He also announced that he would not participate in the tournament. Cancún, due to recent communications received from Premier Padel.
The player deplores a difficult context, affirming that padel has gone from a business that threatened the players to another who, according to him, adopts similar practices. Implied, Pablo Lijó refers to the World Padel Tour, which was abandoned by FIP for the benefit of Premier Padel, supposed to offer a more advantageous circuit for players.
Last January, Padel Magazine offered you in exclusiveness the shocking remarks of many professional players. Today, some of them decide to lift the veil.
His words are reminiscent of those of Cristian Gutiérrez who left to play this year on the A1 side Padel.
Despite his disagreement with the current situation, Pablo Lijó assures that he will respect his contractual commitments and will participate well in the P1 Miami, second tournament of this category of the season.
He concludes his message by apologizing to fans, which he considers to be the most affected by these conflicts within the circuit.
Here is the translation of the 47th player in the world:
“The players pay it. The fans pay it. The promoters pay it. The ones who don’t pay it are the ones who should.
There is not a single player who does not want to play, but we need to do it in dignified conditions. We only ask that they respect what they promised us three years ago. No more, no less.
For my part, I decided not to play the FIP Gold of Paredes, the Silver of Valencia and that of Egypt, the P2 of Gijón, nor the Dubai FIP Gold. And unfortunately, after the last letters received from Premier Padel, I don't want to go to either Cancún.
It's sad, very sad, this whole situation. We left a company that threatened us and didn't count on us, to join another one that does exactly the same thing. It only took them a year.
I would like to apologize to all the supporters, who, together with us, are undoubtedly those who suffer the most when seeing the padel stab himself.
Of course, I will respect my contractual obligations and I will be at Miami to compete in the second P1 of the season.
Thank you all for your understanding and support!”
