The French Tennis Federation is already preparing for the smooth running of the French Championships of padel 2018 which will take place at Toulouse Padel Club (OCC) from Friday September 21 to Sunday September 23. Which leagues are affected? The conditions ? The FFT explains everything HERE.

The leagues concerned for the French championships of padel 2018

The implementation of territorial reform is changing most leagues.

From now on:

13 Metropolitan Leagues

5 overseas leagues:

  • Guadeloupe
  • Guyana
  • Martinique
  • Reunion Island
  • New Caledonia

2018 FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIPS in 2 or 3 phases

The 2018 French Championships Padel now break down into 2 or 3 phases, according to the organization of each league (interregional phases are deleted):

  • A departmental phase or by "sector", not required, and organized eventually by some committees. This phase, if it exists, is qualifying for the Regional Championship.
  • The Regional Championship, qualifying for the French Championship.
  • The 2018 French Championship will take place on September 21, 22 and 23 in Toulouse Padel Club (Occitanie league).

24 women's teams and 24 men's teams will participate in the French Championship (see below)

Each League being responsible for the organization of its Regional Championship and its possible qualifying phases, for any information, contact your League.

Which French championships are open to whom?

The French Championships of Padel are open to players:

  • French nationality,
  • FFT licensees on behalf of the current sports year, and whose date of attachment of the license meets the deadline conditions set by the league to participate in the regional qualifying championship,
  • whose certificate of qualification specifies the mention "In competition"
  • belonging to the age group 17 years old or above.

The events of the French Championships (eventual departmental phase at the final stage included) do not distribute prize money.

Note that there is no limitation of the number of teams for the departmental phases and regional championships.

These Championships are open to any player meeting the selection criteria.

The departmental qualifying championships

Departmental Qualifying Championships (as a reminder, these steps are not obligatory - see the rules of your league) in the Regional Championship will be assimilated (in terms of points / no prize money) to P 100. JAT1 minimum.

The 2 format is mandatory from the semifinals.

If less than 4 teams, the event will not be homologated, but one or more teams may be qualified for the Regional Championship.

Attention: 2 statutorily licensed players in the league can participate in the Regional Championship, and therefore a departmental qualifying phase. There is no obligation for 2 players to be fired in the same department.

However, a player may participate in only one Regional Championship, and therefore, in fact, only one Regional Championship

Regional Championships padel

The Regional Championships organized by the Leagues, are assimilated (in terms of points / no prize money) to P 500.

JAT1 minimum.

1 format (traditional, 2 sets to 6 games) mandatory from the quarterfinals.

If from 4 to 7 teams participate in the Regional Championship, it will be homologated in P 250 and not in P 500.

If fewer than 4 teams participate in the Regional Championship, it will not be homologated and will not earn any points.

But in any case, the League will qualify one or more teams for French championships, even if only one team is committed

Qualification mode for the final stages

Due to the implementation of the territorial reform, a new qualification method has been put in place for the 2018 edition of the French championships of Padel, the objective being to have the French Championships, Ladies and Gentlemen, as high as possible. Each League may qualify from 1 to 4 teams maximum per event

Senior, namely the team directly qualified League Champion + 3 qualifying teams, according to the terms described below. The League will enter 3 qualifying teams, in addition to its Regional Champion team, a priori the finalist team and the two semi-finalist teams of its Regional Championship (but however, she may register another team if she wishes).

Also, for each test:

  • The 18 league champion teams are directly qualified ;
  • 6 additional places are awarded as follows:

=> Each of the 18 leagues will enter its 3 teams on the entry form classifiable, in most cases, his finalist team as well as his two semifinalist teams

=> All teams classifiable of the 18 leagues, will be ordered from 1 to 54, taking into account the FFT ranking of Padel byAugust 2018 (at equal team weights, a draw will be made)

=> The 6 best teams on this list (still in the August 2018 standings) will qualify for the 2018 French Championship; the following teams, from rank 7 to rank 54, will constitute the list of substitute teams.

●   Rankings to take into account:

  • The ranking taken into account to determine the teams qualified for the French Championships is the classification of the month of August 2018 (the list of qualifying teams is established in August, but will not change with the ranking of the month of September )
  • On the other hand, the classification taken into account to determine the seed, and thus the establishment of the table, is that of September

●   Distribution of lists:

The leagues must register their teams with the FFT no later than Monday 13 August 2018 (see form provided for this purpose).

The list of directly qualified teams and the list of substitute teams will be circulated and communicated to the Leagues on Friday 17 August 2018.

Several cases of packages, and therefore replacements, may occur.

In case of fixed price. The conditions.

1   - League Champion Team Package:

a.   Before the distribution of the lists by the FFT (Friday 17 August 2018):

In this case, the 2nd substitute team is automatically qualified and the League has the possibility of replacing its failing team by a 5th team having participated in the Regional Championship. It thus completes its registration form with another team that participated in the Regional Championship, and thus always keeps 3 teams in the list of qualifying teams.

b.    After the distribution of the lists by the FFT (Friday 17 August 2018) and at the latest on Wednesday 19 September to 18h30, ie 24h before the draw:

This WO intervenes after the distribution of the lists, the League will not be able to register a new 5ème team to replace the defective team. However, each League must have at least one qualified team per event, two cases:

  • - the league already has a second qualified team, in which case we will take the first

team on the list of alternate teams, regardless of the league of that team;

  • - the League does not have any other qualified team; then, in this case, the first team of the League in the list of replacement teams, even if that

This is behind better-ranked teams from other leagues.

After Wednesday 19 September at 18h30: no team replacement is allowed after this time.

2   - Package of a team among 3 qualifying teams:

a.   Before the distribution of the lists by the FFT (Friday 17 August 2018):

In this case, the league has the possibility to replace its defective team by an 5ème team having participated in the Regional Championship. She thus completes her registration form with another team that participated in the Regional Championship, and thus always keeps 3 teams in the list of qualifying teams.

b.    After the distribution of the lists by the FFT (Friday 17 August 2018) and at the latest on Wednesday 19 September 18h30, ie 24h before the draw:

This WO intervenes after the distribution of the lists, the League will not be able to register a new 5ème team to replace the defective team. In this case, we will take the first team on the list of substitute teams, regardless of the league of this team.

After Wednesday 19 September at 18h30 : no team replacement is allowed after this time.

- Package of one of the 2 players of a qualified team (League Champion or not):

at. Before the distribution of the lists by the FFT (Friday August 17, 2018):

The league has the opportunity to replace the defaulting player among the participants in the regional championship. The term "player who participated in the regional championship" means any player registered in a team that has appeared in the table of the regional qualifying phase, regardless of the WO or not of this team. Thus, the League can still keep the registration of 4 complete teams since the lists have not been broadcast.

b. After the distribution of the lists by the FFT (Friday August 17, 2018) and no later than Wednesday September 19 at 18 p.m., i.e. 30 hours before the draw:

The place of the team remains acquired with the League, who has the opportunity to replace the defaulting player with a

player who participated in the Regional Championship.

As a result, there are several scenarios:

  • - the league decides to replace the defaulting player by a player who participated in the Regional Championship and not part of one of the 3 other qualifying teams of the League, in which case the composition of the team is changed, and the list of teams substitutes remains perfectly identical. We're just replacing a
  • - the league decides to declare the WO team, and we come back to the case of the 2 package - b previous
  • - the league decides to replace the defaulting player by a player from one of the 3 other qualifying teams, in which case the league loses a team, and the management of the eventual replacement will be based on the list already established - case of the 2 package - b preceding-.

After Wednesday 19 September at 18h30: after this period, no replacement will be allowed and the team will be declared

Modalities of the final phases of the French championships padel 2018

Only test in this case in France.

The Championships will be held under the formula of a Multi-Chance Tournament.
