We knew France as an international tourist destination, on the other hand, France as the choice of the elite of padel is an ultra-recent phenomenon.

Padel Buzz presents Jose Luis Lara, player-coach with a record provided, involved since July 2016 in the formation and democratization of our favorite sport, in French lands please, from the Mas club, Perpignan.

The tennis curriculum of Jose Luis Lara is impressive: winner of ITF tournaments, best ranking ATP 500; semi-finalist single Spanish championship (1999), vice champion of Spain in doubles (1999), junior champion community of Valencia (1998 - 1999) etc. etc. Such talent could only lead to the Academy Juan Carlos Ferrero of Alicante!

Listed padel, in 2013, in addition to his status as number 1 in the community of Valencia, Jose Luis held the number 1 position in the FEP ranking (Fedreación Española de Padel). Let's finish this quick presentation, on the title of Spanish team champion won in 2014… as well as this 80th place in the WPT 80 ranking for 2013.

What are your motivations, why such a choice, a word about your projects:

I arrive in France with the idea of promoting padel since here everything is to be done, as well for the padel junior than for the padel pro! I believe the time to face these challenges has finally come.

My intention is to prepare a solid structure on which the padel can develop in the medium term. On one of my school projects from padel, I work with Alain Henry (Tennis Padel - Le Mas, Perpignan) professional and connoisseur of padel French.

The start of a new stage for the padel in France?

That's it, we are working so that the padel enters a new phase.

Another axis of development will be done in collaboration with the circuit Padel Infinty Tour, during which training sessions (clinic) will be offered, in order to provide players with a technical but also a philosophical approach to padel.

What is your first assessment?

Obviously, for leisure, the base of practitioners is not yet important, however, I look forward to the good news announcing new short, club projects etc. This makes me think that this is the best time to work in France, and that the potential exists.

On the pro side, good players are in place, my wish is to provide an answer to the lack of specific training structure padel for practitioners and high level players (editor's note Jose Luis is already working with E. Nicol, P. Gautier, L. Boulade).

Do not worry, in the next few years, we will see some French players fight to get to the WPT table.
