Sports Prestige innovates: after the high-end padel courses organized in the Spanish Basque Country, the sports events and seminar agency, based in Biarritz, is launching the first Padel Expertise Cup, sponsored by Alpine, which will take place Friday, September 27 in San SebastianThis is a one-day tournament dedicated to business leaders and liberal professions: bankers, lawyers, notaries, accountants, wealth managers, insurers, etc.
Among the participants, we will find a well-known face of local padel, in the person of Jean-Noël Insausti. The 40-year-old Basque, former tennis player (he was ranked 393rd at best in the ATP), currently 81st French padel player and business leader, the manager of IB Gestion Privée is pleased to participate in the day organized by Sport Prestige. He explains why.
A first experience of “networking”around padel?
I know and appreciate this type of event, which is conducive to discussion and business, which can be found in big cities like Paris and Bordeaux. I had wanted to participate for a long time, but my schedule has not yet allowed me to. It is good that Nathalie, from Sport Prestige, is launching this type of service in the Basque Country where padel is on the rise.
I signed up with an accountant I work with and I'm sure we'll have a great time in this very beautiful club in San Sebastian where I have already played. It has the advantage of offering 8 covered tracks, a great clubhouse with a fitness room, modern changing rooms and a restaurant, which is not common in the Basque Country.
The advantages of Padel Cup
The idea is to exchange, to discover new faces and to meet around a passionate sport, padel! It's the ideal sport, friendly, nice, where you can mix levels, to have a good time, without any hassle. Afterwards, in terms of business, it's interesting to talk about your professional activity on this type of day, rather relaxed. We'll be in shorts and not in suits, it's a change (laughs)!
I am the head of a company specializing in wealth management for business leaders and private clients; I work in collaboration with lawyers and accountants to advise business leaders, so this Padel cup is just in time!
A busy summer season
With my partner Thomas Cazes-Carrere, we took part in two P1000s in the South-East: at the end of July, in Vence, where I was on holiday with my wife and our two daughters, we finished 3rd, we lost 7/6, 7/6 in the semi-final.
Then on the way back, in Montpellier, we finished 4th in a tough P 1000, notably beating a pair composed of players ranked around 45th place. Last weekend, we played the P1000 in Arcachon, with a nice victory over the Mannarino / Armagnac pair in the 8th finals, 7/6, 6/2. We lost in the quarter-finals against players around 20th place, 7/6 and 7/5. We finished 5th, it's a great performance!
An unrepresentative ranking?
Maybe, but it's not for me to say (smile). My best ranking was 75e, I have been playing padel for five years and I limit myself to 12 tournaments per year. So of course, it is hard to move up. I have of course my professional activity, which is very demanding, besides we are going to develop in Paris, and I prioritize my family life.
Padel is a plus, a sport that I practice with passion but without pressure. I play twice a week, a training session and a match. This Padel cup of expertise, it's a fun event. I'm very happy to participate near my home, in a pleasant and professional setting. It's going to be fun...
