Le padel is growing all over the world, and also at our borders. Switzerland is a country which has managed to appropriate this new sport, knowing certain difficulties, such as the persistence of the big brother, tennis, which thanks to its two big stars that are Federer and Wawrinka, is struggling to make a place with the general public. But the padel is now enjoying real success in Switzerland!

Le padel in Switzerland mainly works with the Swiss association Padel which manages all the competitions, the ranking, and the development in general of the padel throughout the Swiss territory.

What are his missions?

Swiss Padel is the guarantor of the development of padel in Switzerland, and this notably involves the creation of an approved competition circuit: the Swiss Padel Tower. This is the same principle as the World Padel Tour, where there are tournaments divided into 3 categories (category 1, category 2, and category 3). During each tournament, participants receive a number of points according to the place in which they finished the tournament, and according to the category in which they played. The main difference with France is that the categories are not just tournament categories, but also level. A player playing in category 1 (the strongest) cannot play in category 3, and vice versa.

Which brings us to his second mission. Indeed, the ranking established during the Swiss tournaments Padel Tower allows to know the position of a player in relation to another. What makes it possible to retain the players around this discipline. Ranking is an essential aspect of the development of padel in any country ! Something different in Switzerland compared to France is that in our country, there is a unique ranking for all players (we are ranked according to our results and those of other players, which gives us a position 1st French, 360th, 1800th, etc.). In Switzerland, players are ranked according to their number of points, but also according to the category in which they play.

Finally, to be able to accumulate these points on Swiss tournaments Padel You must therefore be in possession of the Official License. The advantages it allows: to have priority in tournaments. Indeed, in Switzerland, it is possible for a non-licensee to do them. Then, you will be able to accumulate the points which will be transcribed on the official ranking. You can take part in so-called “elite” competitions, and apply for the national team. The development of a sport is characterized by its number of licensees. Today, we rank the sports in order of importance according to the number of licensees.
