After a dark day on Tuesday,  Alix Collombon  brought a smile back to the French clan. Associated with  Araceli Martínez , the Lyonnaise launched her Paris Major perfectly with a solid victory against  Aida Martinez   et  Ana Domínguez  : 6/1 6/3.

A one-sided first set

From the outset, Collombon and Martínez set the pace. Ultra-incisive on the fly, they slammed  17 winning points  in the first set against only 3 for their opponents. Tension and haste on the side of the qualifiers, realism and serenity on the Franco-Spanish side: the set logically ends 6/1.

In the second half, Martínez and Domínguez found their stride again. More volume, a few break points… but they couldn't convert them. Behind, Collombon and Martínez proved effective:  3/3 break , then continue to conclude 6/3.

Logical but essential victory:  This is the first French success in this Paris Major . Enough to give Collombon and his partner confidence before a gala round of 8 against the number 4 seed,  Sofia Araújo and Andrea Ustero They won't start as favorites, but they've already beaten them in Bordeaux. With the experience of this match and the support of the Roland-Garros center back, the feat is not impossible.
