Invited by wild card , Jessica Ginier (154) and the Italian Chiara Pappacena (106) failed to upset the odds this Tuesday. Opposed to the Portuguese Ana Catarina Nogueira (37) and the Spanish Melania Merino (52) , they logically lose 6/1 6/0 to the first round of the Paris Major.
A close first set but without any results
With the wind making rallies difficult, both players got into the game well. They were very present on the returns, managing to hinder their opponents and quickly get to the net. 1/1 , they even get break points... but don't convert them. And as is often the case at this level, it comes at a heavy price: behind, Nogueira and Merino take the upper hand.
Ginier, very solid in her diagonal, manages to cause pain in sequences, but the Portuguese and the Spanish systematically win the long rallies and especially the important points. Result: a 6/1 severe on the board, while the set was much more contested than the score tells.
The step was too high
In the second set, the gap widened quickly. Nogueira and Merino raised their voices, while Ginier and Pappacena made more unforced errors ( 13 against only 2 for their opponents). Despite some good passages, experience and realism were clearly on the side of their rivals, who unroll to conclude: 6 / 1 6 / 0 .

An experience to remember
The score was tough, but Ginier and Pappacena showed some good things, especially in the first set. What was missing? Rhythm, experience against this type of pair, and a little more realism in the hot moments. Three unconverted break points is unforgiving at this level.
Despite everything, both players come out with experience. We'll see again soon. Chiara Pappacena on the FIP circuit, and for Jessica Ginier , this match at the Paris Major will remain as an additional experience against a top world pair.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
