Le  Paris Major 2025  will already remain one of the most unpredictable tournaments of the season. In the space of a day, several top seeds disappeared:  Di Nenno / Augsburger (TS7) , eliminated by  Sanyo and Alfonso ,  Sanz / González (TS6)  swept away by  Perino / Piotto ,  Tolito / Chozas (TS13)  released by  Collado / Hernandez , or  Paquito / Bergamini (TS5) , beaten from the moment they entered the competition.
So how can we explain this cascade of surprises?

A slower track than in Madrid

The first key element is the  track speed After a fast P1 in Madrid, the players find themselves on a much slower surface at Roland Garros. The Parisian humidity further accentuates this effect, especially in the evening. As a result, attacking styles based on power struggle to express themselves.
On the contrary, conditions favor defensive profiles and players capable of extending rallies. We saw this with  Sanyo Gutiérrez , who knew how to dictate the pace against Augsburger, who was often blocked by the slowness of the ball and unable to make a difference with his smash. At the end of the match,  Sanyo Gutiérrez  he himself recognized it: "In these types of conditions, we are very strong."And the facts prove him right: his experience and the complementarity with Gonzalo Alfonso allow them to shine where others collapse.

An environment that levels the levels

The second explanation is due to the  overall tournament conditions  : late matches, humidity, contrasts in light between indoor and night sessions… All these elements complicate the task of the favorites. The outsiders, on the other hand, hang on more easily, because the slower speed reduces the gaps in skill. And above all, many of these outsiders had already played on these slopes during their first matches. They were therefore familiar with the conditions. This acclimatization allowed them to enter their match without surprises, unlike the seeds who were discovering these conditions for their first round.


In this context, even a pair as talented as  Di Nenno / Augsburger  or even  Tolito / Chozas  did not find the key. Augsburger, often compared to  Tapia or Coello  for his explosive style, does not yet have this capacity to adapt: ​​the number 1s, on the other hand, know how to modulate their game to remain dominant, even in slow conditions.

What's Next ?

These surprises show that the  Paris Major  is a special tournament. The big attackers will have to find solutions if they want to go all the way at Roland Garros. For now, it's the pairs capable of varying, defending for long periods, and being opportunistic in the hot moments who are doing best.
