Le World Padel Tour is asking pro players for help to get the circuit past post-covid-19.

While many professional circuits and sports federations such as tennis try to organize themselves to help players, in the padel, we organize ourselves differently: WPT asks players for a little help.

Le World Padel Tour, the professional circuit of padel, requires a significant effort from the players of padel to save the competition for 2020 and 2021.

The pro circuit helps players in tennis… In the padel, these are the players who could help the pro circuit.

Tennis sets an example

In tennis, the ATP / WTA circuits will indeed unlock a financial envelope to help poorly ranked professional tennis players.

In men, players will receive 8 euros if they are classified between 000st place and 101th place worldwide. In duplicate, 500 euros between 2st and 000th places worldwide.

For women, the conditions are special, but you will have to have participated in at least six WTA tournaments since March 2019 to be able to receive € 9.

In France, we know that the French Tennis Federation will also help tennis players, padel and beach tennis. Very good news for professionals who are lucky enough to be part of a very powerful Federation with a war chest, which is not the case for everyone.

WPT looking for a second wind

Le World Padel Tour expected to resume in late June, even if this information needs to be confirmed. But his fate may seem to go through a delicate deal with the professional players of padel mainly from the top 20 worldwide.

Le padel, it's not tennis yet. It is certain, especially on the economic level. However some players of the World Padel Tour are surprised not to get World Padel Tour more transparency in the financial accounts of the professional circuit:

Le World Padel Tour is probably having a very complicated year. As for the players, as for the clubs, as for everyone.

Since the World Padel Tour requires an effort from the best players and more generally from the world of padel finally, it would be good if the professional circuit could be completely transparent by publishing its accounts.

Furthermore, the World Padel Tour is the property of Estrella Damm. For many, many years, it has had a hell of a publicity campaign. What is the amount paid by the brand of beer to World Padel Tour ? Is this an estimated normal amount given its over-representation on the circuit?

There is no trial of intent. But having the information would be a good start in understanding and helping the World Padel Tour.

The WPT finally accepted the players' proposal which initially foresees that they will only touch 50% of the prize money initially planned for tournaments to be held behind closed doors in 2020.

Moreover, if the World Padel Tour manages to organize 10 or more tournaments, players will forgo the bonuses distributed to them at the end of the season, i.e. € 10 for players in the Top 000, € 10 for those between 7th and 500th place, and so on, for a total of € 11. A great effort on the part of the players!
