In the ladies' category, a match continues talk : the opposing one Virginia Riera / Carmen Goenaga to the qualified pair Raquel Eugenio / Martina Fassion. These are finally the qualified who won in three hard-fought sets (3/6 6/4 7/6).

However, reason for the controversy does not lie in the result, but in a mistake that is difficult to cover up: Virginia Riera served six times in a row during the match, a situation that the referee did not notice.

Our colleagues from Padel Break noted that Virginia Riera served:

  • In games 6, 8 and 10 of the 2nd set,
  • Then in games 2, 4 and 6 of the 3rd set.

This means that his partner, Carmen Goenaga, never took his shift when it was his turn. Even more incredibly, neither the opponents, nor thearbitrator did not notice this anomaly.

This erreur ultimately had no impact on the outcome, since it was the pair Eugenio / Fassion who won the match in the third set tie-break. However, one can easily imagine that if the pair Spanish had lost, a official claim would probably have been filed.
