In August 2019, the magnificent test of World Padel Tour by Jaén has been endangered by several economic and political problems. The political debate is not yet over.

A reminder of the facts

Three reasons caused the investigation on the World Padel Tour de Jaén, and jeopardize this event usually contested in May:

  • The cathedral was listed in Unesco World Heritage, which would cause a conflict. It is also possible to consider that this tournament highlights the beauty of this cathedral, and makes it shine among the 17 spectators and via the retransmission on Gol TV ...
  • Un lack of security during the previous event was mentioned but the investigations have not yet been completed.
  • A debt of € 400 impossible to reimburse for the city of Jaén.

When a city changes from one political party to another, it is often difficult to find continuity in the projects.

The test of World Padel Tour is a new motive leading the different political parties to oppose. In Spain, many political parties have emerged in recent years, giving a debate to more than five fronts in the majority of cities.

Unfortunately it is a universal sport and event who pay the price. It is in this case one of the most beautiful tournaments of padel of the world that could disappear.

The PP (Popular Right Party), which is no longer in power, requested the Mayor of Jaén Julio Millan (Left PSOE), through a written document, so that he does what is necessary to archive the investigation procedure on the World Padel Tour.

This letter could trigger an improvement in the situation and allow the Jaén tournament to be organized again. However, sanitary conditions will have to improve ...
