For a long time,  Fede Chingotto  was considered one of the most consistent players on the circuit. Always present in the later rounds, rarely in trouble against second-tier pairs, the Argentinian nevertheless seemed to hit a ceiling when he faced  Arturo Coello  et  Agustín Tapia  finally.

But since the start of the 2026 season, something has changed.

Associated to  Ale Galán The player from Olavarría found the missing piece he needed to compete with the world's number ones. As a result, the Galán/Chingotto pair won.  four of the five direct confrontations  contested this season against the "Golden Boys" and currently dominates the Race Premier Padel.

According to statistics from Padel Intelligently, this turning point can be explained by a very precise evolution of Chingotto's game.

 Chingotto's weakness against number 1

"Ratón" has always built his game around consistency. Few players on the circuit make as few unforced errors as he does.

On average, Chingotto hovered around  7,5 unforced errors per match , a figure that is already exceptional at the highest global level.

The problem arose when he faced Coello and Tapia.

Against the league leaders, his number of unforced errors skyrocketed:

  •  6,7 unforced errors per match against the rest of the circuit
  •  12,1 unforced errors per match against Coello and Tapia

A huge difference that partly explained the difficulties of the Galán / Chingotto pair during the grand finals of 2024 and the beginning of the 2025 season.

Under constant pressure from Tapia and Coello, Chingotto often found himself forced out of his comfort zone and into a more aggressive style of play. This choice certainly increased his number of winning shots, but also considerably his number of errors.

A radical tactical change in 2026

This season, the Argentinian has decided to change his approach.

Rather than trying to compete offensively with the world's number 1 teams, Chingotto has pushed its natural identity even further: defending, building, waiting and limiting risks.

The figures speak for themselves:

  •  Unforced errors against Coello/Tapia in 2025: 12,1
  •  Unforced errors against Coello/Tapia in 2026: 8,2

A drop of nearly  25% .

At the same time, his number of winning moves also decreased:

  •  11,5 winners previously
  •  8,2 winners this season

A voluntary offensive sacrifice that is proving extremely profitable today.

 An even more dominant Galán

This development directly benefits Ale Galán.

With an even more reliable partner by his side, the Madrid player can fully exploit his attacking qualities without having to compensate for some of the losses of control seen in the past.

The pattern is now clear:

  • Chingotto secures and builds.
  • Galán accelerates and finishes.

A complementary relationship that has been working perfectly for several months.

The best Chingotto of his career?

The statistics mainly show a player who has managed to stay true to his identity while correcting his main weakness.

Less spectacular, perhaps.

But much more effective.

By becoming even more patient, more solid and more tactically disciplined, Chingotto managed to outmaneuver the two players who had previously dominated the circuit.

Approaching the  Italy Major of Rome  Following the Spanish tour, the Argentinian seems closer than ever to his big goal: to become world number 1.

And if Galán is probably having his best season in several years, part of this success also bears the signature of Fede Chingotto who knew how to evolve at the most important moment of his career.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
