The French Federation now requires the use of scoring boards for P500 tournaments. But couldn't this rule be extended to all official tournaments ? Systematically imposing scoreboards indeed has several advantages, both for players and for referees, spectators and clubs.
Obvious benefits for players
Clarity of the scores is one of the main advantages: the panels allow players to follow the progress of the score live, without having to ask the referee or their opponents. This promotes their concentration throughout the match. In addition, a clear display reduces the risk of confusion and avoids unnecessary tensions on the ground.
A valuable tool for referees
For referees, scoring boards make it easier to rotation management. By having an overview of the current scores, it becomes easier to anticipate the end of matches and to efficiently organize the rest of the tournament. In addition, by displaying the results in real time, the system contributes to reduce disputes, thus simplifying the task of officials.
A better experience for spectators
For the public, the panels offer a more engaging experience : following a match becomes easier and more captivating. This also strengthens the attractiveness of the tournament, giving a more professional and organized image of the event.
An asset for organizing clubs
Finally, for clubs, the scoring boards can be used as advertising media, providing visibility to business partners. They also contribute to enhance the club's image, bringing a serious and professional aspect, which can encourage players to come back for other competitions.
Towards a generalization?
In short, the obligation to use scoring panels could improve the overall experience of padel tournaments, at all levels. A path that the Federation could consider extending to further strengthen the structuring of amateur padel in France.
