Rome will be the scene of the second Major of the season of Premier Padel ! The best players in the world will compete in the Foro Italico, an emblematic place of Italian sport.

The International Federation of padel (FIP), the Italian Tennis Federation (FIT) and Sport E Salute (the sports agency of the Italian Government), are proud to announce that Italy will host a Premier Padel Major, next May. Under a new multi-year agreement. Premier Padel is the new official world circuit of padel, governed by the International Federation of padel (FIP) and supported by the Professional Association of Padel (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI). 

The annual Tier 1 tournament, which will be known as the Premier Padel Major of Italy, will take place at Historic Foro Italico in Rome du 23 to 29 May 2022. Qualifiers will take place on May 21 and 22, with the main draw starting when they close. the Premier Padel Italian Major thus completes the list of the four Majors of the new world circuit Premier Padel announced in 2022: in Italy, France, Mexico and Qatar. the Premier Padel Major from Italy will offer 2000 ranking points to players, as well as a prize money record, like all “majors" new Premier Padel Tour.

Qatar, Italy, France and Mexico

Le Premier Padel Major of Italy scheduled for May, in addition to the two other category 1 tournaments previously announced: the Premier Padel Major of Paris at the Stade Roland Garros, from July 11 to 17, and Premier Padel Major of Mexico at Club Sonoma in Monterrey, Mexico from November 28 to December 4. The first category 2 tournament has also been announced in recent weeks: it is the Premier Padel of Argentina, which will take place from August 8 to 14. Other announcements will follow very soon. 

This agreement demonstrates the vision that FIT and Sport E Salute have for padel in Italy, a country that is becoming one of the biggest markets for the sport. According to data from the National Observatory of padel, padel amateur in Italy has increased fivefold since the start of 2020 in terms of the number of padel, while the number of schools and clubs padel tripled.

This is a consecration not only for the Federation, but also for Italian sport, as it confirms that sporting activity is popular and must be accessible to everyone. The context of the Foro Italico in Rome will make this tournament unique and I'm sure it will be a great sporting moment. No sport in Italy has been so successful in such a short time that the padel : it does not require a long technical preparation and is very easy to learn at any age. This confirms that sport should be accessible to all and practiced everywhere.”
