Le Premier Padel P2 of Cancun follows after the FIP Platinum Puebla. This third tournament of the season, after Riyadh and Gijon, will not offer the expected spectacle in a men's draw, which, like the Gijon draw, is being boycotted by a good part of the players in the world top 100.
In the masculine chart, Juan LeBron and Franco Stupaczuk will be the men to beat. Seeded No. 1, the Spanish-Argentine pair will seek to secure their first title together. Barring a huge disappointment from Lebron/Stupa, the ts1 should win easily. In the men's competition, the interest lies elsewhere: who will manage to make their way to the final in the other part of the table?
Curro Cabeza and David Garcia, #2 seeded, will approach this tournament with confidence after their victory in Spain. Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso, #3 seeded, also remain serious contenders with two trophies won in their last three competitions (FIP Gold de Paredes and FIP Platinum Puebla) and a final played in Gijón.
In the female painting, 24 pairs are engaged, with the Eight seeds directly qualified for the round of 16. Among them, the winners of the P2 of Gijón, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, will start as favourites and will enter the competition against Riera/Marrero or the Mexican wild cards Peña/Ramme.
At the top of the table, the World Number 1s Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez will be expected in the face of Noa Canovas and Jimena Velasco (finalists in Puebla) or a pair from the qualifications.
Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo, #3 seeded, will also be ones to watch, as will Lucia Sainz and Patty Llaguno, who move up a rank to present themselves as #4 seeded.
