The first ones  FISU World University Championships  take place from  July 7-11, 2026 in Malaga in Spain. This inaugural edition brings together the best student players on the planet in men's, women's and mixed draws, with one particularity: each pair earns points for their country throughout the competition.

 If there are two pairs from the same nation in the same table, only the result of the pair that goes further is taken into account for the allocation of points. 

The French delegation made a perfect start to their tournament by securing three victories on this first day.

Three French victories to start

In a mixed table,  Clara Mansart  et  Eliot Deknuydt  put up a tough fight against the Italians before winning in three sets  4/6 7/5 7/6 A valuable victory against a quality Italian team, which allows the French duo to make an ideal start to the competition.

Another perfectly executed opening for  Louise Bahurel  et  Nathan Courrin The French, the number 1 seeds in the mixed draw, gave their Norwegian opponents no chance, winning  6 / 0 6 / 0 , confirming their status as favorites.

At men's,  Eliot Deknuydt  et  Nathan Courrin  (ts1) also secured a convincing victory against a Swedish pair with a score of  6 / 1 6 / 1 The French, seeded No. 6, have thus made a perfect start to their campaign.

The girls enter the competition on Wednesday

The second day will notably mark the entry of the women's draws.

Exempt from the first round thanks to their status as No. 4 seeds,  Louise Bahurel  et  Clara Mansart  will start directly in the round of 16 against the representatives of Taiwan,  Tong-Jing Liu  et  Chieh-Lin Yu .

The three French pairs will also be back on the courts on Wednesday to continue their journey in their respective draws.

A ranking by nations

Unlike traditional competitions, these first World University Championships are based on a system where  Each pair plays in its own tournament More  Each result earns points for one's country The objective is therefore twofold: to perform individually while contributing to the overall ranking of France.
