From April 11 to 19, 2025, Doha will host the first Major of the season Premier PadelAlongside the world's top pairs, six Qatari players have the opportunity to participate in the tournament through wild cards.

Invitations to experience the highest level

As part of its efforts to promote padel internationally, the FIP has awarded several wild cards to local players for this Qatar Major (FIP regulations for host countries). These invitations allow Qatari players to compete at the highest level and gain experience in optimal playing conditions.

Three Qatari pairs entered in the first round

On Grandstand 1 court, Mohammed Saadon Alkuwari (123rd) and Hassan Adel Waly (953rd) crossed swords with the Spaniard Mario Del Castillo (81st) and the Argentinian Ignacio Piotto Albornoz (85th).

For their part, Rayan Abdulla (342nd) and Ali Al Saadi Mohammed (2026th) faced a solid Spanish pair: Anton Sans (69th) and Marc Quilez (63rd). A very complicated match on paper.

Finally, on the center court, Rashed Nawaf (840th) and Mashari Nawaf (788th) tried their luck against Mario Ortega (101st) and Carlos Marti (74th).

No miracle, but a great showcase for Qatari padel

Unsurprisingly, neither Qatari pair made it past the first round. But these confrontations illustrate the FIP's desire to develop padel in new territories. As we all know, when you're neither Argentinian nor Spanish, your adventure on the international circuit often begins with difficulties.

Passionate about soccer and tennis since I was a kid, I've been playing ping-pong for three years at a club in Nantes. More recently, I discovered padel and what a blast! Basketball, rugby, golf, and motorsports: yet more new sports that I regularly follow. On the cultural side, since I love giving my opinion, I write film and video game reviews.
