World number 1 Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello secured their spot in the Qatar Major 2025 final after a solid performance against Mike Yanguas and Coki Nieto. Despite a slight dip in form at the end of the match, Tapia and Coello came out on top 6 / 2 7 / 5 in 1h20 and confirm their return to their best level.

A one-sided first set

From the beginning of the meeting, Tapia and Coello take control of the exchanges, realizing a entry station wagon. Very aggressive on their return games, they completely disrupt the Yanguas / Nieto pair, who commit too many unforced errors (14 in this set, against 6 for their opponents). Tapia, despite a few errors, is formidable in the finish, while Coello dominates in his diagonal. A second break at 4/2 sealed the outcome of this first round, won 6/2 in just 30 minutes.

The (late) awakening of Yanguas and Nieto

Le second act starts with the same dynamic. Coello and Tapia quickly break at 1/1 and lead 4/2 after another break. They then have the opportunity to conclude on Tapia's serve but are unblock at 5/3, a moment of hesitation which recalls their misadventure in the final of the Premier Padel 2024 Finals against Nieto and Sanz.

At 5/4, Tapia and Coello miss four match points and Yanguas and Nieto took advantage to come back to 5/5. But this time, the world number 1s learned their lesson. They immediately resume the opposing service and conclude the match in the process, 7/5.

A controlled demonstration despite the pressure

With this victory, Tapia and Coello confirm their status as favorites. Since their union, they have only missed one Major final (Doha 2023). They continue their near-perfect run in major tournaments. Premier Padel.

For Yanguas and Nieto, the wait for a first title in 2025 continues. The duo, however, confirms its consistency with a fourth consecutive semi-final (Riyadh, Miami, Santiago, Doha). Nieto will have to wait a little longer to play in his first Major final.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
