Alix Collombon and Araceli Martinez see their journey end in the round of 16 of the Qatar Major , at the end of a complicated match against  Marta Ortega  et  Sofia Araujo A duel played in windy conditions, marked by the logical domination of the number 4 seed... and an abrupt end due to injury.

Ortega and Araujo impose their rhythm

From the first games,  The Spanish and Portuguese take control of the game , with a well-oiled strategy: get to the net quickly, finish points quickly, and take advantage of opponents' errors. Collombon and Martinez are in difficulty, despite an improvement at the end of the set where they manage to get a break point at 4/1. But Ortega and Araujo remain solid and conclude logically  the first set 6/2 .

A second round without real hope

In the second act, the scenario is similar. Although Collombon and Martinez win their first service game, they  concede a break at 1/1  and never manage to get back into the game. Ortega and Araujo keep the advantage, without trembling, perfectly controlling the exchanges despite the wind.

À  3/2 against them , new blow:  Araceli Martinez twists her ankle  on a support recovery. After a medical break and a strap, she returns to the field, but visibly diminished. At 5/2, unable to continue, she decides to to abandon , putting an end to this meeting. A  frustrating but logical epilogue , both Ortega and Araujo had control of the match.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
