In a context where competition is intensifying on the circuit Premier Padel and as the 2025 season approaches, a question arises: who will succeed the pair? Sanchez / Josemaría ?
Sanchez/Josemaria heading for a double?
According to a poll published on Carlota Palma's X account about the future number 1 women's pair in the world for the next season, a total of 514 votes were counted. Three options were proposed: the pair Sanchez / Josemaría, current world number 1, the new association Brea / Triay, who will start as the world number 2 seed, and finally the promising pair Gonzalez-Fernandez.
- 44,4 % of votes go to world number 1s Sanchez / Josemaría,
- 44,4 % of votes support the pair Brea / Triay,
- 11,3 % of votes go to Gonzalez-Fernandez.
The poll focused on the top three pairs on the world circuit. Premier Padel and was carried out at the beginning of January, just before the start of this new season. According to the votes collected, the favourites to retain the title of world number 1 are the current leaders Sanchez / Josemaría…or the new pair Brea / TriayThe two duos obtained a perfectly identical score with 44,4% of the votes each. Enough to cause a surprise!
Ariadne Sanchez and Paula Josemaria had already secured their place as world number 1 at the end of the 2024 season with three tournaments still to play, proof of their supremacy on the circuit. Their track record is impressive: 10 titles won, including 3 Majors (Paris Major, Italy Major, Qatar Major) and the long-awaited Master Final title, which they had failed to win the previous season. They even came close to the “Grand Chelem”, failing only in the semi-finals of the Mexico Major. With an exceptional record of 85 wins and only 12 losses last season, it seems logical to consider them as the big favorites for their own succession.
Brea / Triay: a threat to the world number 1s?
The new pair formed by Delfina Brea (5e) and Gemma Triay (3rd) accumulated 44,4% of the votes for world number 1 status, a score equal to that of the current leaders.

However, in view of the dominance of the leaders Sanchez / Josemaría and since this is a new collaboration, there is still uncertainty surrounding this pair. Gemma Triay, for her part, trained with her former partner Claudia fernandez a solid duo, with 6 titles to their name, including the Mexico Major. They have also shown great consistency by reaching two finals at the Qatar Major and the Master Final. A key factor in this number of votes is the experience of Gemma Triay, who dominated the circuit by finishing the 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons in first place in the world rankings.
The association with Delfina Brea, much loved by fans and former partner of Bea Gonzalez before their separation, brings a new dynamic. At 25, Brea will inject energy and intensity into the game, while continuing to progress thanks to the experience of Gemma Triay.
Gonzalez / Fernandez: the pair capable of shaking up the hierarchy

Collaboration between Bea González (6e) and Claudia fernandez (3rd) combines youth and talent. Together, they form one of the most promising pairs on the circuit and hope to compete with the world numbers 1 and 2. Although this association was not initially planned, the decision of their respective former partners, Brea et Triay, to regroup has led to this new collaboration. A spirit of revenge seems to animate these two players among the most talented on the circuit. At 18 and 23 years old, their future seems bright. After a rise in power during the last season, their compatible style of play and their potential for progression offer solid reasons to believe in this pair for the season to come.
