The 2024 European Championships will take place in just under a month in Cagliari, Sardinia. If we already know which players will represent France in Italy, we do not yet know who the Blues' opponents will be. In fact, the group draw is carried out the day before the competition.

On the other hand, we know the countries which make up the different hats, and France is in the first, on both the male and female sides. This means they are sure to miss Spain, Italy and Sweden in the group stage.

The Portuguese scarecrow

For both men and women, the country to avoid is Portugal. Absent from the last competition and forced to go through qualifying, the Portuguese could clearly be part of the first hat. Among the girls, France having two “Draw 3” countries in its group, the chances of ending up with the Lusitaniennes of Sofia Araujo and Ana Catarina Nogueira are quite high.

Among the men, France will only have one “Draw 3” nation in its group so it is less likely for the Blues to end up with Portugal. The Tricolores know that they will have either Denmark or the Netherlands in their group, opponents in progress but still much less dangerous.

In your opinion, the French selections will be spared during this group phase?
