From a P100 final to FIP Silver qualifications

Seeing Quentin Boronad on the tracks of a FIP Silver might have been surprising. He himself smiled at it.

« It was a joke with my partner. A few days earlier, I played in a P100 final. We are partners of the event with French Padel "So, I told Théo we'd sign up. We did, and I think we did alright, even if we obviously don't have the level for this kind of tournament."

A jump from a final of P100 in the FIP Silver qualifications which will remain primarily a nod, but also a beautiful way to experience the event from the inside.

French Padel Shop, a project that continues to grow

If Quentin Boronad is present in Narbonne, it is primarily as premium partner of the tournament with French Padel Shop .

The adventure takes a real turn in 2024 , when he buys back with Yann Loupetis a padel club in Perpignan.

"We took over a club that was losing momentum. We revitalized it and, as we've always been passionate about retail and selling rackets, we developed a large shop within the club."

The adventure then takes on a new dimension with the resumption of French Padel Shop, one of the first French companies specializing in the sale of padel equipment, created by Manu Garcia et Regis Monnerie .

"We thought that with our entire ecosystem – the club, Yoan, and the players around us – we could give the site a new dynamic."

Today, the company is focusing as much on the online business than on proximity to the clubs.

"We see that online shopping is becoming increasingly important, but we still strongly believe in advice. A racket needs to be tried out, discussed. Players need guidance in their choices."

To support this development, Thibaut Verdier , 80th French player , travels to clubs all over France to present the products and support the structures in their equipment offering.

A family story centered around padel

For the Boronad family, padel is a family affair.

It all began when their father discovered the discipline at Padel Mas Club , in Perpignan, one of the historic clubs in the region.

"It was our father who played there. We would simply go to watch him play. He even went up to the..." 39th place in France in 2023. "

Yoan quickly caught the virus.

"Every time he changed ends, he would go and hit balls against the glass all by himself. You could already see he'd got the hang of it."

Quentin, however, is following a different path.

“I was more focused on rugby. I played up to the Espoirs level at USAP before returning fully to padel, but more through the development of our projects.”

"When Yoan loses, it's better to wait a little while."

Since leaving for Spain at just 14 years old with Timeo Fonteny Yoan Boronad spends little time in Perpignan. A distance that has nevertheless never affected their relationship.

"We've always been very close, even if we see each other less. We try to talk often and help her with her career as much as we can."

Like many competitors, Yoan has a hard time accepting defeats.

"When he loses, you have to wait an hour or two before talking to him. He's very nervous and very demanding of himself. He often puts himself down a bit too much. We're there to remind him of what he's done well too."

The older brother teases… and issues a challenge

When asked what qualities he would like to inherit from his brother, Quentin answers without hesitation:

« His defense "Without any hesitation. Me, I'm a terrible defender!"

Conversely, he suggests with a smile that Yoan could perhaps take inspiration from… his smash.

The discussion concludes with an idea that might appeal to French fans. The two brothers have only played together once, on a P500 in Perpignan .

But now, Quentin has a FIP license.

"Now that I've paid for it, we need to make it profitable! We should do a FIP together. Him on the right, me on the left... that would be perfect."

A fraternal partnership that, for now, remains just an idea. But after this declaration, it's hard not to hope to one day see the two Boronad brothers sharing the same side of the net on the international circuit, at least for the sheer joy of it!
