On the occasion of FIP Rise of Bandol, Raluca Sandu talks about the tournament conditions and her association with her partner Ivet Portillo Perez.
Tournament playing conditions
“I love the playing conditions because I love the heat, it doesn’t affect me. The court is a bit slow, it’s always like that on new centre courts. Otherwise, I think Bandol is a very pretty village.
I think that yesterday we didn't find the sensations on the court, but today it was easier because I think it's an advantage to have played a match before. Afterwards, I had difficulty finishing the points, it was difficult."
His association with Ivet Portillo Perez
“I was looking for a partner and here I am with a 16-year-old girl who had no points but who plays very well.
I trusted him, and we started with a FIP in Sardinia, in October last year. We played very well. We won 2 games and lost the 3rd.”
The more you play, the stronger you are
“It’s quite important to train together because it’s a team sport. The more time we spend together, the stronger our team becomes. It’s not easy for me with the kids and work, but we manage.”
