Let's go back to the new measures for the sport that came into effect on Saturday April 3, 2021 at midnight, and see what it is possible to do for the players of padel.

In a press release, Jean-Michel BLANQUER, Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, and Roxana MARACINEANU, Minister Delegate in charge of Sports, detail the new measures:

“Individual sports practice remains possible outdoors, both in public spaces and in outdoor sports equipment, without time limit but within a radius of 10 kilometers around your home, in compliance with the curfew (from 6 a.m. to 19 p.m.) and provided with proof of address".

“Priority audiences such as high-level athletes, professional athletes, people in vocational training, people with disabilities and those benefiting from an adapted physical activity prescription remain authorized to use all sports equipment. (closed and covered as in the open air). ”

For minors

“Considering that physical and sporting activity is essential for our youth and anxious to provide families with solutions to take care of children outdoors, in an organized, supervised and secure manner in this period marked by school holidays, the government allowed the practice outdoors only and with respect for distancing, whether it takes place in public space or in outdoor sports facilities. However, the curfew (throughout France) and the 10 km limit around the home must be respected. "

For adults

“The practice of sport remains possible in the public space as in outdoor sports equipment while respecting distancing but without time limit. However, it is limited in a 10 km radius around the home and subject to compliance with the curfew. ”

Priority audiences

“The following priority audiences: professional athletes, high-level athletes and other athletes registered in the Federal Performance Project, people in university or professional training, people with an APA medical prescription and people with disabilities recognized by the MDPH as well as the '' supervision necessary for their practice, retain access to all sports equipment (open air and covered). However, as is already the case, only professional athletes, high-level athletes, people in professional training as well as the supervision necessary for their practice, will be authorized to waive the curfew. "

Sports educators

“Sports educators retain the authorization to derogate from the curfew, only for their professional activity, that is to say to supervise professional sportsmen, high-level sportsmen or persons in professional training. The other activities of the educators must be carried out in compliance with the curfew. Private coaches can also continue their professional activity outside only in accordance with the curfew hours (19 p.m. to 6 a.m.) ”

In other words, what does that change?

Concretely, all of France is found in the situation in which 19 departments were two weeks ago.

For those who are not among the priority audiences, it is always only possible to play padel outdoors and semi-covered, subject to going to a club located less than 10km from home.

Granted, that shouldn't be a big change for most of the padel, but it is all the same a problem of more for the clubs which have already suffered a lot ... Now we must hope that the effects of confinement and vaccinations are felt quickly, so that the padel (and all the rest of the economy…) can resume its forward march!
