The question is legitimate, because many players - beginners as well as experienced ones - have doubts about  authorized positions when serving in padel . Here is what the official rules of the  FIP (International Federation of Padel) .

 The server 
It is the only one whose position is strictly regulated:

  • He must stand  behind the baseline , without stepping on it.
  • He must be  on the right side of the center line  (right for even points, left for odd points).
  • He must  hit the ball with a spoon , with a pre-bounce and below the waist.

 The receiver 

  • The receiver can position himself  anywhere in his own half of the field , including forward or diagonally, provided you stay in your own half of the field (left or right depending on the reception).
  • Il  does not have to be behind the service line , nor in a specific “quarter”.
  • However, he must be prepared to  let the ball bounce once  before hitting her.

 In Summary  : no constraint on the receiver's position, as long as he is in his half of the field.

 The server's partner and the receiver's partner 

  • These two players can position themselves  where they want in their half of the field  (between the walls and the center line).
  • They are not  not required to stay in a “quarter”  determined by the serving side.
  • They can be positioned at the net, in the center or at the baseline depending on their strategy.

 Points to remember 

  • The only obligation is that  each player remains in his half of the court when serving .
  • Il  there is no notion of a mandatory “quarter”  for partners.
  • Once the ball is served,  all players can move freely across the entire field .
