Le  Gijon P2  is at the heart of a real puzzle. With just a few days left before the registration deadline,  none of the top 8 men's pairs  is not on the entry list. A real problem for Premier Padel, which has already had to push back the deadline from February 7 to 14 in the hope of seeing names added… but still nothing.

 A disguised boycott?

What is even more intriguing is that pairs like  Tello / Libaak  ou  Campagnolo / Maxi Sanchez , who were registered, have finally decided to withdraw... even though they will be present at  Cancún  for the next P1. There is clearly  something wrong  and the reasons may well be related to recent changes in Premier Padel.

A disagreement with the new organization?

This situation would be a direct consequence of  the reduction in the number of teams in the main draw . A decision which especially penalizes the players of  middle and bottom of the table , making their season much more complicated. In response,  Some top world players have reportedly chosen not to register for Gijón  to mark the occasion.

On the side of  Premier Padel , we remain calm in affirming that the tournament will take place with high-level players. The players have  contractual obligations , and a last minute package could  have consequences for them .

 The girls answer present

Unlike men,  the women's table is complete . All the best players will be there  Palace of Sports of Gijón  and there is not a shadow of controversy on their side.

 A hard blow for Gijón

If this situation does not improve by Friday,  The tournament could lose a lot of interest . Without the usual headliners,  The public and the organizers are likely to be disappointed . It remains to be seen if Premier Padel will find a solution before the deadline... or if this P2 will remain as the first big hiccup of the season.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
