What had to happen happened… Riyadh Season P1 Women's Semi-Finals were interrupted in the middle of the match because of the rain that fell on the Saudi capital. It was impossible for the players to continue in good conditions, the ground becoming impassable.

Matches stopped in the middle of a fight

Before the interruption, here is where the meetings stood:
Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría (TS1) led 6/0 4/1 against Marta Ortega and Sofia Araújo (TS4). The number one pair seemed to be heading straight for the final.
Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay (TS2) were ahead 4/3 against Claudia Fernandez and Bea González (TS3), in a duel that looked set to be very close.

A totally disorganized tournament

This postponement is just a new episode of the weather chaos which has been hitting the tournament for several days. Initially, the competition was to take place finish saturday, but the successive postponements have led to a complicated sequence. Now, The semi-finals have still not been able to be played in their entirety, putting the organization under pressure.

What will decide Premier Padel ?

The organization will have to make a decision quickly, but the situation does not look easy. rain continue to fall on Riyadh, and replay in optimal conditions seem complicated.

Le Riyadh P1 becomes a fiasco, and once again raises the question of the organization of outdoor tournaments, too dependent on climatic hazards. It remains to be seen whether the semi-finals will resume… or whether Premier Padel will have to decide otherwise.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
