French padel holds its final at  FIP Bronze Marnes . Young people  Jeremy Robert  et  Olivier Guy de Chamisso The U18 team caused a sensation in the semi-finals by eliminating the 4th seeded team.  Juan Zamora Perez / Alejandro Garcia Calahorro  at the end of a huge battle:  2/6 7/6 6/1 .

A great performance for the two Frenchmen who will thus play their very first final on the FIP circuit… and what better place to do it than at home, in France.

A complicated start to the game

The match had, however, started very badly for the French team.

In the first set, the Spaniards immediately imposed their rhythm, notably thanks to a huge  Juan Zamora Perez , very dominant in smash, vibora and volley.

On the other side, Robert and Guy de Chamisso struggled to get into their match. Too many unforced errors and a lack of presence in crucial moments saw the French pair logically concede the first set.  6/2 .

The French awakening in the second set

But gradually, the two young Frenchmen are gaining momentum.

They push themselves harder, encourage each other much more, and above all  Olivier Guy de Chamisso  starts to do a lot of damage in the offensive game. For its part,  Jeremy Robert  regains its usual level and becomes increasingly solid in the exchanges.

At 5/4, the Spanish are very close to the final, but the French remain very solid on their service games and finally push the set to a tie-break.

In this crucial moment, Robert and Guy de Chamisso made the mental difference to secure the victory.  7 - 5 .

 A demonstration in the third

Winning this tie-break completely changes the dynamics of the match.

In the third set, the French team completely dominated. Urged on by their fans and loved ones present, they took total control against the Spanish, who began to make numerous unforced errors.

Robert and Guy de Chamisso then played a superb game of padel and concluded this semi-final with authority:  6/1 .

A huge achievement for both U18s

The two young Frenchmen are having an exceptional tournament.

From the very first round, they had already had to work hard against  Nathan Courrin / Thomas Seux  before gradually increasing power:

  • victory against the 8th seed in the round of 16,
  • victory against the 11th seed in the quarter-finals,
  • then a huge victory against the 4th seed in the semi-final.

They also benefited from the withdrawal of the number 1 seed before the tournament to see the draw open up, but this does not take anything away from the great performance achieved this week.

Forcin and Hugounenq came very close to achieving this feat.

We even came very close to an all-French final.

In the other semi-final,  Maxime Forcin  et  Arthur Hugounenq  have long made the 3rd seed doubt themselves  Nicolas Zurita / Samuel Rivas Garcia  before finally giving in:  6/7 7/5 6/4 .

The French had, however, made a perfect start, thanks in particular to a  Arthur Hugounenq was monstrous at the smash .

But the Spaniard and the Italian gradually tightened their game and gained the upper hand in the last two sets.

Despite the defeat, Forcin and Hugounenq also had a tremendous run, notably marked by their quarter-final victory against  Vanbauce / Pillon .

A final to follow live on Padel MagTV

The meeting will be followed live on  Padel MagTV , following the women's final scheduled to begin  13:30 .

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
