Interview with Robin Haziza, one of the best French players in padel, recent finalist with his partner Jérémy Scatena of the 1st edition of the Padelpro Cup in Sophia. He looks back on his adventure in Spain on the professional circuit, analyzes the men's circuit as well as the women's circuit. He tries very objectively to take stock of the experience acquired in the padel in France and Spain.

Before talking about your experience, do we see you or in the coming days and weeks?

Objective of the French championships padel next September. With Jérémy Scatena, we really want to enjoy success. But the competition promises to be very tough. We saw it again during the Head Padel Open of Lyon and the Padelpro Cup in Sophia.

But the planning is well done since we have two stages of World Padel Tour, Head Padel Open in Boulougne-sur-Mer and then of course the French Open in padel which will take place at Place du Capitole.

The French in Spain, are we so far away on the pro circuit?

In all humility, I had a negative speech a year ago on the pro circuit. But I have evolved. I thought that reaching the top 100 world was not easy. But the level is leveling. We saw him with Jérémy Scatena with his Argentine partner Nicolas Suescun.

We saw it with Adrien Maigret and myself in Sweden. The French level is improving and we are gradually progressing.

The French pair, Blanqué / Bergeron also realizes beautiful parties.

Now, can a Frenchman reach the top 50 world in the coming years, frankly I do not believe for now. There are clearly differences in levels.

Sometimes making shots on certain stages, I believe that and I hope that the French will achieve as many shots as possible on the stages of the World Padel Tour.

How is it going for you in Spain? You do not play with Jeremy Scatena on the WPT?

We chose Jérémy Scatena and I to separate on the professional circuit. It's good for me and for him to have another experience.

Jérémy Scatena had the chance to partner with a very strong Argentine partner. Me too I play with a Spanish for now that plays well. But I'm starting to have more and more points on the professional circuit. And we know it's very important. So, I end up with calls from players who want to play with me while I'm not stronger than a few months ago, but my points on the pro circuit make me more interesting for players.

The French are not yet very credible on the pro circuit. The Portuguese are, the French not yet. It's up to us to show that we are improving.

Can the girls go further than men on the pro circuit?

Undoubtedly yes. Of course, our French players are very strong, but there are also a lot less players on the circuit. To access the main table of a step in the World Padel Tour, it is faster.

Our French players like Alix Collombon and Laura Clergue can clearly reach a main draw regularly and why not settle in the 30 / 20 world. I believe in it anyway.

The other very important element for the ladies is that very few of the girls train padel like Laura and Alix do. Suddenly, the room for improvement is very important. Personally, I think that we could see very beautiful things in our French girls in the coming years because they work and they have already integrated a main painting of the World Padel Tour… And not just once.
