Robin Haziza, captain of the Bleues team, looks back on the quarter-final won by the France team against the Netherlands 2-1, synonymous with the semi-final at Euro 2024 in Sardinia against Italy and obviously tells us about the future opponent: Italy.

Godallier / Soubrié: a first association which brings back the decisive point

“Today is a great feeling because we are qualified for the semi-finals, which was our goal in a complicated group. The Netherlands had a similar configuration to that of Belgium, with a rather strong and fairly homogeneous team behind, despite a last minute injury.

Contract fulfilled. Alix and Jess had the right match. Superb performance from Carla and Camille, who delivered an incredible match and who came within a few points of the feat against team 1 of the Netherlands, who are playing very well. Then, as we anticipated, the composition was well done with Léa and Sousou (Charlotte Soubrié) who played for the first time together this week and who beat the Netherlands team relatively easily, thus obtaining a place in the semi-final.”

Italy and 7 players from the world top 100!

“Tomorrow it's Italy, Italy at home, with their armada of players in the top 80. I think 6 of the 8 players are in the top 80, and then there's Stellato and Parmigiani who are top 100 or not far. It's really a very strong team with Carolina Orsi and Giorgia Marchetti at the top of the list.

Carolina Orsi is 27th in the world, Giorgia Marchetti plays with Léa and plays very well. In short, we are not favorites, obviously, but we will think and try to put the girls in the best possible conditions to propose a composition which could offer us a place in the final.

Italy: 602

  • Lorena Vano (61)
  • Emily Stellato (73)
  • Chiara Pappacena (76)
  • Julia Sussarello (87)
  • Martina Parmigiani (164)

France: 1076

  • Lea Godallier (60)
  • Carla Touly (101)
  • Jessica Ginier (115)
  • Camille Sireix (172)

  • Lucile Pothier (188)
  • Fiona Ligi (231)

France had opposition, not yet Italy

“In any case, we will give our best. We have nothing to lose, on the contrary, everything to gain. We also hope that, emotionally, it will not be easy for the Italian women.

We know what it's like to play under pressure to earn a place in the final at home. They had a very easy group and quarter-final, while we had to play against Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium, with fairly rhythmic and complicated opposition each time. We are therefore also counting on this aspect to surprise them a little.

We will give our best, as usual.”
