Robin Haziza, captain of the French women's team, spoke after France's great victory against the Netherlands and this 2nd victory acquired in group D during these Padel World Championships 2024 :
“I am very satisfied with this match. The objective was to win 3-0 against the Dutch, while we had beaten them 2-1 in the decisive doubles only three and a half months ago in the European Championships (editor’s note: last July in Sardinia).
They responded in attitude, with a very good match.Alix (Collombon) and Jess (Ginier Barbier) who soundly beat the first Dutch pair. It was a very good performance. Then, in the second pair, Carla (Touly) and sousou (Soubrier) were able to turn the situation around after a difficult start to the match, winning 6/4 in the third set. It was a victory snatched from a fight, showing other qualities than pure play, and that is also very satisfying.
With the match won at 2-0, I had obviously asked Lea (Godallier) and Lucile (Pothier), who closed the match, to win the third match to come out 3-0. So I'm very satisfied with the final result.
We still have one goal left in this group: to beat the Belgium. It will be a balanced encounter, similar to the one against the Netherlands. We will have to put in the same degree of intensity, motivation and desire to go and get our place in quarterfinal. I also asked the players to consider this match as a real quarter-final. If we win, we will probably have a semi-final against the Portugal, before hoping to play for the “icing on the cake” against theSpain. Our real final will be for third place.”
