Refereeing is once again strongly criticized on the circuit Premier Padel and these are Juan Tello et Fernando Belasteguin who paid the price. The possible refereeing error cost the pair a break… and probably the matchh!

For context, there is a break point for Yanguas / Stupa in the third set. A decisive break point for the rest of the match… Juan Tello gets an easy ball to smash and Mike Yanguas sticks to the net to touch it. He actually announces “touch" but Tello stops the ball with his hand, claiming that Yanguas did not touch it.

The referee agrees with Mike Yanguas, so Bela and Tello appeal to the video. In the slow motion, it seems that, in fact, Mike Yanguas does not touch the ball. The trajectory is not changed and the effect on the ball appears to be that of Juan Tello's smash. However, stupor in Rotterdam, the referees announce that the ball is good.

Fernando Belasteguin gets bored and keeps repeating that the referee is “terrible”. He even asks for the video referee to come on the field, as well as the tournament director. None of these complaints are heard and, another controversy, King Bela is not sanctioned for his behavior… a bit borderline.

Finally, the break was made for Yanguas / Stupaczuk and the duo Juan Tello / Fernando Belasteguin never managed to come back in their encounter.

This new refereeing error only serves to tarnish the reputation of referees this season even further. Premier Padel. Whether in the video referee's decision or the warning not given to Belasteguin, the choices of the referees were particularly questionable in this meeting…

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
