La seeded 5, Alex Ruiz and Juan Esbrí, created a sensation at FIP Platinum Lyon, by winning the final against Edu Alonso and Juan Tello, seeded 3, with a score of 3/6 6/3 6/4A victory at the end of an exceptional tournament, where the Spanish successively knocked out the seeded 4, 1 and 3 to afford a prestigious title.

A stunning game

The final had started badly for Ruiz and Esbrí. Tello et Alonso got off to the best start, setting a fast pace and playing aggressively at the net. The Spaniard and the Argentinian logically won the first set 6/3.
But behind the scenes, the reaction of the future winners was impressive. Alex Ruiz, with surgical precision, handled the game perfectly and concluded the points with his very good smash. Juan Esbrí, he raised his level, showing himself to be sharper in the exchanges and more inspired on key points. Together, they reversed the trend to pocket the second set 6/3.
The third act was a battle. Tello and Alonso had a break point at 4/5, but Esbri took responsibility to conclude the match and offer the title to the Spanish pair.

A champion's journey

This victory crowns a high-flying run. From the first round, Ruiz and Esbrí were close to being eliminated by Miguel Lamperti and Juan Ignacio De Pascual (6/3 2/6 6/4). In the quarter-finals, they dominated the seeded 4, Barahona / García, before creating a sensation in the semi-final by beating the seeded 1, Di Nenno / Leal (7/6 6/3). And to conclude, they bring down the seeded 3 in the final. A perfect week.

Ruiz, still king of the FIP circuit

Often in difficulty in recent months on the circuit Premier Padel, Alex Ruiz always wakes up on the circuit FIP. Already winner of the FIP Platinum Mexico last year and finalist at Seville, the Spanish left-hander adds a new trophy to his collection with this FIP Platinum Lyon 2025. After a FIP Gold Potosi won earlier in the season, he proves once again that he knows how to shine in the big FIP tournaments.

Heading for Newgiza

For Ruiz and Esbrí, this title arrives at best moment. It was only their second tournament together, and their complementarity is already obvious. They will be back in two weeks at Newgiza P2 (Egypt), with renewed confidence and the desire to build on this momentum.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
