A situation totally new occurred during the Santiago Premier Padel P1 : the women's final was stopped at the start of the third set because of the high humidity on the track.

A title abandoned, but points still awarded

The International Federation of Padel (FIP), which governs the circuit Premier Padel, stipulates in its regulations:
“If a tournament officially ends before the finals are completed, each finalist receives finalist points.”

As a result, Ariana Sánchez / Paula Josemaría et Gemma Triay / Delfina Brea receive 600 FIP points each, the equivalent of a finalist place in a P1. Same logic for the endowment: €9.350 per player, well below the 17.000€ planned for the champions.

A decision that inevitably leaves a bitter taste, given the spectacular and close final (4/6 7/6 15-15 at the time of the interruption). But the players' safety took precedence over everything.

In men, a very different case

The men's final, also cancelled, had a different outcome. Franco Stupaczuk having been forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a severe fever, the FIP declared the pair forfeit Stupa / Lebron. Result: Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto are declared tournament champions.

The two players therefore leave with 1.000 point each and 25.500€ prize money, while their opponents get 600 point et 12.500€.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
