"El Mago," Sanyo Guitierrez, an iconic player in the world of padel, sincerely shares his opinion on the evolution of padel, particularly the increasing speed of the game each year. To counter these developments, they propose some adjustments that could benefit the game and also allow players to continue playing outdoors for a long time.

An adaptation of the tracks

The first proposed adaptation is found in  the evolution of the tracks , in terms of its overall size but also the height of the grids and side windows of the track.

“Today I think there is a lack of space on the track, or should we increase the height of all the windows?”

The Argentinian explains that 'increase the par 3 to 4 meters in particular  could give more  difficulties for the best smashers to get the balls out , which would give them more merit but also which would offer  longer and more battled points. 

Old return rules?

He also recalls that 'just a few years ago the first batch of servers was banned , it brought a lot  more options and freedom for returners  and chances of making a break. Now, the game is going very fast and in fast conditions the serve is very difficult to take for the returners, as evidenced by the  high number of tie-breaks last week in Valladolid. 

A rule that would allow 'necessarily engage in a rally  instead of' a point that sometimes only lasts two or three strikes , tactical intelligence therefore taking over , to the advantage of a player like Sanyo…
