During this period of pause on the circuit Premier Padel, the announcements of changes do not only concern the men. Among the women too, the cards are being reshuffled, with the official separation of Virginia Riera et Marta Marrero after their journey to Brussels P2.
The Spanish-Argentine pair had built their project around experience and solidity, hoping to play leading roles on the international stage. But after eight tournaments, the conclusion is clear: the results have not lived up to expectations.
A mixed record for Riera and Marrero
In eight competitions, Marta Marrero and Virginia Riera have only reached the quarter-finals once, in the FIP Platinum Puebla. On the circuit Premier Padel, they have never gone beyond the last sixteen and have suffered five eliminations since their entry into the competition.
Faced with this lack of results, Virginia Riera announced the end of their collaboration via his social networks, expressing all his affection for his ex-partner:
“Thank you for this time spent together. Things didn't go as planned, but I really enjoyed sharing the track with a great champion like you.”
Marta Marrero, in search of a return to the top
For its part, Marta Marrero also praised their shared adventure:
“It's a shame the results didn't follow, but I remember the good times and the luck of having known an exceptional person. I wish you every success in the future.”
Since his return to competition, Marta Marrero failed to regain its place in the world top 10, a goal she was undoubtedly aiming for when relaunching her career. However, despite the lack of major results, the Canarian player still shows a level of play that suggests she is not so far from the best.

A new start for Riera and Marrero
This separation marks a key moment for the two players, now looking for new sensations and better performance on the circuit. Both aim to quickly regain a prominent place on the international scene, with the desire to reach a new level with their next partnerships.
