They weren't the expected pair, but they managed to pull it off. For their first appearance side by side on the circuit Premier PadelSofia Araújo and Andrea Ustero put in a solid performance against Lucía Sainz and Patty Llaguno. In two well-constructed sets, 7/6 6/3, they dominated an experienced duo and together secured their first qualification for a semi-final.

The number ones play their game

In the other half of the draw, Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaría continued their flawless run. In the quarterfinals, they left only crumbs to Marta Ortega and Alejandra Alonso, a newly formed pair. They secured a swift victory in just over an hour, with a resounding 6-0 6-1 score. Since the start of the tournament, the world ranking leaders have only conceded three games.

They will face Bea González and Claudia Fernández in the semifinals. The latter qualified without actually playing their quarterfinal, as Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen had to retire after three games due to Jensen being ill. For González and Fernández, it will be a new attempt against Sanchez and Josemaría, who have beaten them three times this season. This time, they will be looking to reverse the trend.
