Wilson maintains its momentum in the year 2024 with key strategic initiatives in the field of padel. The agreement concluded with QSI to supply the official balls of the main circuit and the launch of the new Bela 2.5 racket demonstrate the positive dynamics of the brand. The latter further intensifies with the arrival of the Blade Pro V3, already adopted by Javi Garrido.

Blade Garrido

Considered one of the best smashers on the circuit, the Andalusian player needed a pala capable of adapting to his ultra-powerful game. This is why the American brand decided to revisit this model which is now a real concentrate of power, unlike the V2 which was quite versatile.

Continuing the lineage of the range, this new version opts for a subtle evolution rather than a revolution. Wilson thus favored precise adjustments: a lightweight deck design and new foam density. While one of these changes is visible, the other remains invisible to the naked eye. However, both contribute to significantly improving the power, precision, and stability of the racket.

We also see that the drilling plan has been completely updated compared to the last version. It appears that wind tunnel testing led Wilson to adopt this new scheme. This modification has two objectives: enlarge the optimal strike zone and increase the penetration rate in the air.

True to the heritage of the range Blade, this series retains the teardrop shape emblematic which made it successful. While remaining generally well balanced, this new version is distinguished by a higher head weight than its predecessor. Result: if his versatility is a little less, his attacking power is, for its part, unbridled.

Blade Family 1

La shovel, point by point

The handle, typical of Wilson, remains as thick as ever (4-1/4″)(2), although slightly lower than that of the Bela Pro 2.5.

As a reminder :
4-1/4″ corresponds to the circumference of the handle in inches (i.e. 4 and 1/4 inches), a measurement Anglo-Saxon standard for all snowshoes padel wilson.
(2) designates the size of the grip according to the numbering European (which can go up to 5 for tennis).

A little math:
1 inch = 2,54 centimeters
4 inches = 4 x 2,54 cm = 10,16 cm
1/4 inch = 0,25 x 2,54 cm = 0,635 cm
Total: 10,16 cm + 0,635 cm = 10,795 cm

A simple but precious accessory, the fleece strap (new in V3) is the best ally of gamers padel to combat perspiration, which is inevitable during intense heat. Thanks to the fleece, sweat from the wrists is effectively absorbed, ensuring a drier and more reliable grip. Comfort is also there thanks to the quality, softness and thickness of the fabric.

The design of this pala combines elegance and modernity. The vibrant turquoise green color that dominates it instantly evokes freshness and energy, but also the precious stone from which it takes its name, a symbol of rarity and excellence. The matte black “W” logo stands out against the vibrant turquoise, accentuating the premium look. A second logo, fluorescent yellow, energizes the whole and underlines the successful alliance between bold colors and refined details (matte logo, lacquering, fluorescent touch). The result is an object with a minimalist and striking aesthetic, both refined and remarkable.

The head of the racket presents a textured surface on 70% of its surface area. This 3D appearance is composed of raised lines forming a random geometric pattern, designed to maximize the grip of the ball when hitting.

Blade 2

Blade, which means “blade” in English, irresistibly evokes a sharp and precise object, like the blade of a knife or a saw. No question of cutting up your opponents on the court, rest assured! The idea is rather to slice the balls “on the fly”.

High-performance materials for enhanced durability:

  • Le Carbon Fiber Face, a carbon fiber fabric with high torsional resistance, covers the striking surface for greater robustness against impacts and extended life.
  • Un rigid core, unlike the previous version, ensures better energy restitution for more power at impact, while offering excellent control to experienced players.

However, it is important to note that very firm EVA foam can reduce comfort and sensation on impact, especially for casual or beginner players.

Technologies for optimized gaming:

  • sharp hole : a perforation system optimized to enlarge the ideal hitting zone (“sweet spot”), improve aerodynamics and promote grip of the ball for more spin.
  • Structure C2 : a tubular carbon construction combined with a composite material for a perfect balance between durability, vibration absorption and responsiveness.
  • Anti-Fragile Edge : a reinforced frame with high-strength materials to prevent damage from violent impacts and extend the life of the racket, ideally located on the head of the racket for aggressive play.
  • Duo Grid Pattern : a strategic arrangement of holes to optimize power on offensive shots and control on defensive shots. The larger diameter upper holes provide more power for shots, while the smaller lower holes improve spin and control for defensive shots and volleys.

This new model, still in the shape of a teardrop, is distinguished by a balance point located just above the center (slightly higher than the V2), and equipped with foolproof stability, while its maneuverability, which can still be improved, will require a certain amount of strength from the player in very fast phases of play.

And in game, what does it give?

As soon as you pick it up, you recognize Wilson’s “Pro” signature Padel : a solid pala, built for the offensive. The new rigid core is smooth and propels bullets with devastating power. Suffice it to say that smash attempts have a much greater chance of success with this type of racket. The sound produced upon impact with the ball is particularly remarkable. The pala emits a powerful, resonant tone, which evokes impressive strength. As a sonically attentive gamer, I found this feature very satisfying and stimulating.

This racket is a rock in terms of stability against opposing attacks, and its responsive foam, which returns the ball effortlessly, works wonders on the fly.

The vibrations are well contained and the Sweet spot, to my surprise, turns out to be rather lenient. Indeed, with rigid cores, off-centering errors are generally immediately punished. But with this Blade Pro V3, the optimal sweet spot seems correct, to the delight of players who tend to off-center their shots.

In defense, the racket is a little less comfortable. Its limited maneuverability and the rigidity of its surface will not suit players who favor a large ball exit, typical of soft rubber and/or fiberglass coverings. However, experienced players will be able to compensate for these aspects with their technique, while intermediate players may find the racket less forgiving on defense.

Conclusion

Wilson hits hard with his news Blade Pro V3, a resolutely offensive pala intended for conquering players. Devastating power and surgical precision are there to rain down smashes on your opponents.

Please note, this competitive beast is aimed at experienced players who have already mastered the technical basics. If you are looking to “strengthen your game” and move up a gear, the Blade Pro V3 is made for you!

For players looking for more leniency, Wilson also offers a classic version with a softer rubber (V3), as well as a lighter version (LS).

With this new range Blade and its creative dynamism, Wilson confirms its ambition to establish itself as a major player in the world of padel, for the greatest pleasure of the players.

I also had the privilege of trying this racket in combination with one of the new balls officially chosen for tournaments Premier Padel. I will share my detailed observations of this experience in an upcoming article soon.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Wilson Europe for their consistency in always sending me the latest innovations very quickly as soon as they come on the market. Their reliability and speed are really appreciable.
