Au  Paris Major 2025  at Roland-Garros, the players  Juan Lebrón  et  Franco Stupaczuk , analyzed international padel, personal memories and ambitions for the Parisian tournament, the two champions spoke frankly after a quiet victory against Castano / Abbate.

“Spain, a reference in training”

 Franco Stupaczuk:
"It's difficult to say which country trains padel best. Having lived in Spain for a few years, I know its system better. What impresses me is that there is a competition school in practically every club, with a huge number of children. This is the future of padel. I don't know exactly what it's like in Argentina today, but in Spain, the path is very well marked."

“Padel is progressing everywhere”

 Juan Lebrón:
"Year after year, we see it especially during the world championships. Countries like the  Netherlands  have become very solid, as we saw at the last World Cup.  Portugal  has progressed enormously, the  Brazil  and the  Paraguay  also.

At the last European Championship in Madrid, I even saw selections like  Andorra  ou  Ireland , where I didn't think padel was so developed. The players told me that there were a lot of players, but that there was still a lack of structures like in Spain or Argentina.

For padel to continue to grow, young people need to be able to learn early and consider a professional career. That's the key."

“Padel must return to Brazil”

Stupaczuk and Lebrón  are unanimous on the need to find a major stage in Brazil:
“There was a stage of Premier Padel there, it has disappeared, and it is greatly missed. Padel is huge, especially in the region of  Porto Alegre  and in the south of the country. It must come back."

“After Madrid, Paris is a new opportunity”

Asked about their state of mind after their elimination in the semi-final in Madrid, against the eventual winners  Augsburger and Di Nenno , both players admit they needed some downtime.

 Stupa:
"Congratulations to them, they played at an exceptional level. We lived up to expectations by reaching the semi-finals, but obviously we came away frustrated. The next day, we didn't even speak to each other; we had to let the disappointment pass, take a day to digest it. But today, in Paris, we have a new opportunity."

Stupa was keen to highlight his special bond with his former partner  Martín Di Nenno  :
“We’ve been friends for a long time. After the match, I congratulated him, as I would any player. But with Martín, it’s special: we’ve shared years together. His family was there, very happy. Although it’s never easy to congratulate after a defeat, I was happy for him and for his return to the highest level. That’s where he deserves to be.”
