Franco Stupaczuk is at an extraordinary level this season. With Pablo Lima, he is a used to the last squares de Premier Padel and the WPT. Padel Magazine speaks with the Argentinian from the Philippe-Chatrier court.

The level of the French

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Tell us about the experience of playing at Roland-Garros.

Franco Stupaczuk:“It's incrediblele, and I'm not just talking about the Philippe-Chatrier court but everything related to facilities, locker rooms, player space, meals. There are even beds if you want to rest. Besides being focused before games we need comfort, and here we have it.”

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: How do you see the level of the French players, you who played your first match against Blanqué/Maigret?

Franco Stupaczuk:“The guys are already playing a second round of a Major. The match they had to win was the one against Perez/Iriart. Against us, the idea was to have fun. These matches, I experienced them when I was not yet at this level, they allow me to grow and progress.

A clear identity

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Stupa/Lima is now a pair that has several tournaments in existence, and which is well established. What can this pair now progress to?

Franco Stupaczuk:“We are working on having a clear game identity. From the first lap, the competitiveness is strong, and the idea is that I am a little advanced and Pablo defends a little more. These are our two strengths. We have to have a clear plan with the whole team because it's not easy to adapt to a teammate so quickly. Pablo is a very professional player who has been at the top of the rankings for a long time, so he knows what it's like to train at this level.

It's weird twice in Qatar

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Last year during an interview together after the World Cup in Doha, you told me exclusively that this year's World Cup would be played in Valencia. Finally it's back to Doha. What do you think ?

Franco Stupaczuk: “In principle, the World Cup was to be played in Valencia! Then, I really don't know what happened, but it's Doha again. For us it was more convenient to go to Valencia, but you have to adapt. It's true that it's weird to play twice consecutively in the same place. We still hope that one day we can play him in Valencia.”

Impossible to always be at 100%

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: We are at tournament n°15 of the 34 planned on the two circuits. How do you feel emotionally with so much travelling?

Franco Stupaczuk:“I live the padel for several years. It's hard not to have the relaxation days that actually allow you to be 100% on the tournaments. It's very hard to always be on top, and whoever does it, you have to congratulate him. My girlfriend accompanies me on a few tournaments, but the pace is frenetic. We played the final in Toulouse, then I arrived home after midnight, and the next day I already had to leave for Valladolid because I was playing on Tuesday. The emotional part is invisible, we are not machines, but you have to adapt.”
