It's official, the Sweden subscribed toux European championships padel organized by the International Federation of Padel. A competition that will take place from June 28 to July 4, 2021.

A decision awaited by many players in the padel. Indeed, this year again, we will have 2 European Championships of padel :

  • One organized by the European Federation of Padel (FEPA)
  • The other organized by the International Federation of Padel (FIP)

The Swedish ladies and gentlemen teams will therefore be present at the FIP European Championships, unlike what happened in 2019. We have repeatedly approached the Swedish association on this subject. She remained very discreet about the reasons for her choice in 2019 and about this change in 2021. Especially since she seems close to FEPA which seemed to want to make her its host country this year. Will Sweden emulate the Netherlands who participated in both competitions in 2019? Difficult to know ...

During our interview with the former tennis champion who became the men's captain of the Swedish team, Jonas Bjorkman, the latter had not been able to inform us about the choice of Europe which exceeded him. He had nevertheless explained that it was, whatever happens, very disappointing to see international bodies competing in such a young sport. And that he hoped to see the different organizations come together around the table… For the moment we can say that he was not really heard…

Anyway, more than 16 nations have registered for these FIP European Championships in Marbella. And the level will certainly be very high with Spain in particular, which has also opted for the Europe of the FIP. The only thing missing would be Portugal for the party to be total.
