Even in a period where they seem somewhat less dominant than in 2025,  Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia  continue to write the history of modern padel.

With their final reached at  Asunción P2 The world's number ones are now in a series:

 21 consecutive finals

An absolutely insane statistic.

This means they haven't lost before a final for a full year on the circuit. Premier Padel.

A very rare feat that only one other pair had achieved before them:

Fernando Belasteguin and Juan Martin Diaz

The two Argentine legends remain the absolute benchmark in world padel to this day, with a virtually unparalleled historical dominance. And seeing Tapia and Coello reach this level of statistic demonstrates the magnitude of what they are achieving.

A dominance reminiscent of the greatest eras

As in the days of Bela and Juan Martín, opponents often enter the arena with immense pressure against the “Golden Boys”.

When Tapia and Coello accelerate, few pairs are able to keep up.

Back in Paraguay, they delivered two impressive demonstrations against:

  •  Nieto / Sanz
  • and  Lebrón / Augsburger

Two matches where they rediscovered that feeling of invincibility that had marked their entire previous season.

But the domination is less total than before

And yet, this incredible statistic also hides a more nuanced reality.

Because even though Coello and Tapia reach all the finals, they no longer give the impression of totally dominating the circuit like before.

The proof :
They have suffered several significant defeats in the final against their main rivals.

At men's,  Galan and Chingotto  have clearly gained confidence in this rivalry and now seem to have found the recipe to make them doubt themselves in the big moments.

The number 1 players continue to produce a monstrous level of play in the majority of tournaments… but the finals are now becoming much more complicated to manage.

 The weight of expectations

The problem with a historical pairing is that the level of expectation becomes unrealistic.

For any other team, reaching 21 consecutive finals would be seen as absolute domination.

But for Tapia and Coello, winning “only” two titles this season almost gives the impression of a complicated period.

That shows how high they've set the bar.

A rivalry that completely revitalizes the circuit

This slight decrease in dominance also has a very positive consequence:
the men's circuit has probably never been so open since its creation Premier Padel.

Between :

  •  Galan / Chingotto
  •  Lebrón / Augsburger
  •  Stupa / Yanguas

And despite that, they continue to reach all the finals.

Perhaps that, in the end, is the most impressive thing.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
