Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia marked the 2024 season with fourteen titles and 47 consecutive victories, consolidating their first place in the FIP ranking for the second consecutive year. Their collaboration is based on a natural alchemy and clear ambitions.
A thoughtful and promising project
In 2021, Arturo Coello took the initiative to contact Agustín Tapia to propose forming a team. “It was an important moment for me,” Coello explains. “Agustín was playing with Sanyo at the time, and I didn’t know if he would accept. I wanted to build a sustainable project with a player my age. Finally, he said yes.”
For Tapia, this proposal met his expectations: “Arturo called me, but I was already thinking about it. From our first training sessions, we understood that our game worked well together, and the results came quickly.” Both players insist on the importance of respect and mutual understanding in their success.
Ambition: to make history in padel
After two years of collaboration, Coello and Tapia have no shortage of projects. “Being number one is a motivation to continue progressing,” says Coello. “We want to be part of the history of padel alongside emblematic players like Díaz, Belasteguín and Lima.”
Tapia shares this ambition while remaining focused on the essentials: “We try to improve every day and give the best of ourselves on the field.”
Managing emotions
The competition also requires knowing how to manage pressure and intense moments. “Everyone has their own way of reacting,” Coello notes. “Agustín expresses his emotions more easily, while I am more reserved. But we find a balance that works.”
The final of the World Championships in Doha in 2024, where Tapia and Coello faced each other, marked their season. “It was a different experience,” Tapia says. “Playing against Arturo was strange, but it allowed me to see his talent from a different perspective.”
A vision focused on the future
As the 2025 season begins, Coello sums up their mindset: “It’s important to remember what got us to this point.”
With a strong collaboration and clear objectives, Tapia and Coello continue to forge their path in padel, determined to maintain their level and face new challenges.
