For several days now, a rumor has been circulating in the padel world:  Nike is reportedly interested in Agustín Tapia Following the statements of  Jesus Ballvé Founder  NOX , who had confirmed he had been contacted by the American brand, the world number one himself reacted to this information to our colleagues at  Sports world .

The Argentinian admits to having discovered this media frenzy like everyone else, while showing himself to be flattered by the supposed interest of the American giant.

"I learned about it on social media and various websites. It's true that it created a lot of noise."

Tapia believes that the mere fact that a company of Nike's stature is interested in padel is already a strong signal for the evolution of this sport.

“If they contacted Jesús, it’s obviously a good sign. For such a big brand, if not the biggest in the world, to be interested in me and our sport is very positive. It shows how much we are growing.”

Despite the numerous speculations that have emerged in recent days, the Catamarca player insists that no decision has been made at this stage.

"At the moment, there is absolutely nothing concrete. My team's mission is to keep me informed when discussions actually progress. And if no one has spoken to me about anything yet, it's probably because there's still a long way to go."

Tapia also points out that this type of negotiation with a multinational is particularly complex.

"Or perhaps they are simply things that are very difficult to achieve."

Although he is being cautious, the Argentinian does not hide the fact that joining Nike would represent a major step in his career.

"That would be a dream come true for me. I hope it can happen one day."

For now,  Agustín Tapia remains under contract with NOX while speculation continues around a possible rapprochement with  Nike  continue to fuel discussions in the world of padel.
