The final of  Tarragona Premier Padel P1  kept all its promises. In a heated atmosphere and a context with high stakes,  Gemma Triay  et  Delfina Brea  got the better of  Ariana Sánchez  et  Paula Josemaría  (7/6 6/4), taking down their  sixth title of the season …and the  world number 1 place .

 An unbreathable first set

The start of the match turned to the advantage of  Sanchez and Josemaría , well on their feet, they take advantage of a  lower intensity of Delfi Brea  to obtain  three break points at 3/2 , then one  set point at 5/4 . But each time, they fail to convert. The tension rises a notch when a  game fact  Triay and Brea relaunch: a  false announcement by the referee  on a good service, however, comes to frustrate Ariana Sánchez, which prevents them from concluding.

Behind, they give up their serve, but find the mental strength to  unbreak immediately  to push the set to  tie-breaker . In this key moment,  Gemma Triay  shows off its explosiveness:  chain of winning smashes  to conclude the set 7-3.

 A second roller coaster set

The level of play is rising again.  Delfi Brea is gaining momentum , especially in vibora, and the strategy of making Ariana Sánchez work excessively works.  4/3 , the favorites take a precious break, but when it comes to concluding, they falter.  Sanchez and Josemaría , carried by a large  strong minded , come back to 5-4… before cracking again.

Under pressure,  Sánchez commits several unforced errors  and offers their rivals a  second match point , this time converted.  Brea exults , arms raised, the audience applauds:  Triay/Brea pair officially become the new world number 1 .

A first for Brea, a confirmation for Triay

It is  the third time that an Argentinian player  reached the world number one spot. After winning  the Italy Major , they continued with a demonstration of mental strength. Like their previous victories against the Spanish,  Triay and Brea always come out on top in the important moments . A regularity that pays off and allows them to go on vacation.  with the crown on the head .

 What's Next ?

Deprived of their throne,  Sanchez and Josemaría  do not intend to stop there.  race for the world throne  is relaunched and promises an exciting end to the season. But this Sunday in Tarragona, it's good  Brea and Triay who reign over the world padel .

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
