Left from the qualifications,  Maxi Arce and Pablo Lijó  are having a sensational run in Madrid. After having crossed their  first two qualifying rounds  and then won their first two rounds of the main draw, the Spanish-Argentine pair offered themselves this Thursday  a major feat in the last 16. 

A fifth victory in a row in Madrid

Already authors of four successes since the start of the tournament,  Arce and Lijó  found a major obstacle for this round of 16:  Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini , the world's fifth-ranked pair and the clear favorites for the match. But once again, the outsiders defied the odds.

With  a break per set, Arce and Lijó  managed their key moments perfectly to win  6 / 4 6 / 4 . Solid on their faceoffs, they had no  no break point to save  and have especially been  opportunists on rare drops in concentration  of their adversaries.  Pablo and Maxi  were able to accelerate in key moments of the match to  sign a flawless performance against a particularly irregular Paquito Navarro  on this meeting.

Quarter-final, a first together

Thanks to this victory,  Arce and Lijó reach the quarter-finals of a P1 for the first time together A performance which rewards their solidity since the beginning of the week and now gives them a date with a potential shock against the  world number 1, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia , if the latter confirm their status this afternoon against Victor and Alex Ruiz.
