Few fans expected a victory from the conquerors of  Bergeron / Blanqué  in the round of 16, the Spanish pair  Jairo Bautista / Francisco Guerrero , facing the tournament's number 2 seed,  Alejandro Ruiz / Alejandro Arroyo .

And yet, everything had started so well for the favourites of this quarter-final, who calmly won the first set  6/2  in 22 minutes of play. Smiling and relaxed,  Arroyo  et  Ruiz  even allow themselves a few somewhat... audacious shots. After all, in the eighth round, Ruiz, and especially Arroyo, had already had fun trying some rather disconcerting shots.

But by playing the relaxation card too much, the backlash is not long in coming. That's when  Guerrero  starts hitting very hard. Logical victory in the second set:  6/4  in only 2 minutes.

The match, in a sense, really starts in the third set, where the level of play finally rises. We are treated to the expected confrontation. And in this game, it is  Bautista / Guerrero  who pulled off the surprise of the day by winning in three sets:  2/6 6/4 6/3 .
