Game formats

While it was previously impossible to hold a tournament padel with a “classic” game format, the FFT will authorize this famous formula from next year…

From the 2017 sports year, 5 game formats will be usable for the Padel including the traditional format:

Long formats:

1 format: 2 sets to 6 games (traditional format)

2 format: 2 sets to 6 games, 3rd set = SJD (Super decisive game) at 10 points

3 format: 2 sets to 6 games, no ad, 3rd set = SJD to 10 points

Short formats:

4 format: 2 sets to 4 games, no ad, decisive game to 3 / 3, 3rd set = SJD to 10 points

5 format: 1 set to 9 games, no ad, decisive game to 7 points to 8 / 8

If we look at the possibility of making tournament matches in a classic format next year, the FFT will also allow the organizers to shorten matches if necessary with winning 4 sets. The organizer may also change this format during a tournament.

Number of matches per day

The FFT will specify the contours of this regulation a little later. But overall, a player may not play in a single day more than 3 matches with the classic format (Format 1) and up to 7 matches authorized in the short format.

Tournament categories

A little under the same format as the International Federation of padel with its categories, the FFT will also offer tournament categories.

Starting from the 2017 sports year, 4 tournament categories will be used, determined according to the prize money awarded. by event.

  • P100 (Padel 100): prize-money from 0 to 249 €. 4 teams minimum.
  • P250 (Padel 250): prize-money of € 250 to € 499. 4 teams minimum.
  • P500 (Padel 500): prize-money of € 500 to € 999. 8 teams minimum.
  • P1000 (Padel 1000): prize-money of 1000 € or more. 16 teams minimum, selected thanks to the ranking.

JAT 1 is enough to make a tournament of padel

The FFT has also decided to make the organization of a padel. The JAT1 will thus be able to organize a padel without the endorsement or direction of a JAT2 or JAT3, regardless of the type of tournament.

The championships of France will also evolve

These updates will normally be applied at the beginning of October.

Regional phases can also be managed by a JAT1. The 2 finalist pairs will thus be qualified for the interregional phases. The tournament will be considered a P500.

Interregional phases should most often group together 3 leagues with the possibility also of being managed by a JAT1. The format used: 2 pools of 3 players. The 2 finalist pairs will be qualified for the final stages of the French championships. The tournament will be considered a P1000.

The final phases should have 16 pairs of men and women. The tournament will be considered a P1000 but where a coefficient of 2 will be applied.

This 3-phase formula will apply from this year. The interregional phases will take place on the weekend of September 24 and 25. The interregional groups have not yet been formed. This will depend on whether or not certain regional milestones are achieved.

The FFT has also taken into account the difference in levels that may exist between several leagues. This is why during the interregional phases, it will try to separate at least the 3 strongest French leagues as much for men as for women: The Côte d'Azur league / The Provence league / The Midi-Pyrénées league. These leagues will then technically be able to have 2 pairs represented during the final stages of the French championships. padel which will take place this year at Padel Attitude (League of Flanders) from October 14 to 16.
