On the sidelines of the world championships padel in Paraguay, Diego Miller, the current President of the International Federation of Padel (Transitional President) gave us an interview on the operating mode of the future elections of the new President of the FIP.

Diego Miller is actually the Executive Vice President of FIP. He has assumed the role of FIP President since the resignation of former FIP President Daniel Patty, but he has decided not to run. Recall that he was also President of the Federation of Uruguay, coach for the national team and player.

Diego Miller informs us that the November 2 meeting in Asuncion will aim to elect the FIP President for 2 years only. Normally, a presidency lasts 4 years (An Olympiad).

There are 3 candidates for the post of President of the FIP:

  • Ricardo da Silva Oliveira, the President of the Portuguese Federation of Padel.
  • Luigi Carraro, the representative padel of the Italian Tennis Federation.
  • Daniel Patti, former president of the International Federation of Padel

What can we say about these 3 candidates:

The President of the Portuguese Federation has won her war against the Italian Tennis Federation. Invested in the padel for many years, he has been able to breathe good momentum into the padel in Portugal. It will obtain numerous support, in particular from the federations of padel, sometimes at odds with the tennis federations. It is most often supported by the community of padel thanks to its two events in Lisbon (World and European Championships).

Luigi Carraro is the representative of padel for the Italian Tennis Federation. It will most often be supported by the Tennis Federations which have integrated the padel in their status. If the ballot will be close, we put a coin on the Italian Luis Carraro.

Finally, the outgoing and resigning President, Daniel Patti. A controversial president. Difficult to know his supports. A diplomat who could seduce non-partisans.
